Task
We
began week 1 of our journey by creating both gmail and hotmail
accounts. This was not a problem because I already had accounts for both
mailing services.
Challenge
My
challenges started when I had to create a group list. This was
something that was totally new to me. I tried tampering to figure it out
but it was to no avail. I then realized that I needed help and so I
sorted the assistance of one of my classmates who was more than willing
to assist.
What was learned?
I learned that it is "OK" to ask for help along with learning how to create a contact list. Cooperating and helping each other is also an effective way to learn.
Going Forward
I
will use my new found knowledge of how to create a contact mailing list
by creating one for my students/parents and members of staff. This
would make it easier to give out pertinent information and homework. I
also plan to implement more cooperative learning activities because I
found out that it would make my work load easier by having students
assisting their peers.
The Role of Technology and Media in Education
This
first module introduced us to how technology and media can enhance the
teaching and learning experience. We were given clear definitions of
"Technology" and "Media", their roles and was also shown modern and
older examples of both.
We
were also introduced to the six categories of media, the nine types of
multiple intelligences, learning styles and a brief look at learning
theories.
Conclusion
The
first of Technology in Education was very eye opening. I learned so
much about things that I thought I knew about before. I also learned
that technology and media can assist with the different learning styles
of my students. They enhance both the learning and teaching experiences.
I would definitely be putting all that i have learned into practice in
my classroom.
